This edition — Living Heritage · Qian Lihuai — Bamboo Reimagined — starts from bamboo patterns, combining artist collaboration, pattern co-creation, and 3D printing, bringing traditional design into modern life in new ways.
Qian Lihuai
Qian Lihuai is a bamboo weaving artist and ICH inheritor practicing re-created contemporary bamboo-weaving pattern techniques to bridge tradition and contemporary. Collaborations span BVLGARI, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, VALEXTRA, Budweiser, LEUCHTTURM1917 and MSLAN; works held by Macron, the Hangzhou Asian Games, Bach, and Ma Weidu.
Artistic Philosophy
To create through weaving
With re-created contemporary bamboo-weaving pattern techniques as method, Qian Lihuai turns 'warp-and-weft' into a way of knowing, 'weaving' into a way of generating meaning. Industrial-design thinking frees Jiangnan bamboo craft from utility into a contemporary language of time and nature — a single line of bamboo weaving his singular path from Wuzhen to the Grand Palais.

From the original Choice
To a 99%-faithful 3D-printed reproduction
Working with the artist's studio, we deconstructed the intricate warp-and-weft bamboo structure of the original Choice, mapping every texture and spatial layer, and translated the hand-woven physical artwork into a complete 3D-printable digital model. After extensive tuning, we achieved a ~99% faithful 3D-printed reproduction.
On one side: thousands of bamboo threads woven through time and human hands. On the other: a digital model driving layer-by-layer fabrication. Two entirely different materials, two fundamentally different logics of making — yet carrying the same artistic core. For us, this is the unique charm of digital fabrication.
