失踪的正方形是一种基于视觉错觉的数学谜题，通过几何图形重组形成面积差异的悖论现象 。其核心形式是将13×5的直角三角形切割为四个多边形，重组后看似相同的图形却缺失了1×1的正方形区域 。
该谜题本质源自红、蓝三角形斜边斜率差异（黑金色为3:8，香槟色为2:5），导致拼接时形成微小平行四边形空隙。两组图形实际由凹四边形构成，总面积保持32单位，而视觉上的"大三角"面积为32.5单位，差值恰好对应缺失区域 。谜题涉及斐波那契数列，其比例特性解释了斜边误差的数学根源 [3] [5]。
此现象最早于19世纪60年代被数学界认知，1953年美国魔术师保罗·嘉理提出具体形式，后由马丁·加德纳在1961年《科学美国人》杂志发表并推广。简版变体通过四块相同四边形旋转填补空隙，原理仍基于边长缩减造成的视觉误差
