I designed a simple stand for a Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM lens with and without Canon EOS R7 camera (and maybe others).
I was bothered by the fact that I couldn't properly set the camera down due to its weight (see last picture).
The stand now supports the camera and remains balanced even with the lens hood attached.
I attached a small nub to prevent the camera from slipping. The lens sits between two legs of the stand.
There is still approximately 1.5mm of space to attach felt glides as table protectors if needed.
The design is compatible with the Canon EOS R7 and possibly other cameras as well. I would be very grateful for any feedback on this.
There are several versions available:
- v1: lens without mounting plate / camera without mounting plate (picture 1-5) (*1)
- v2: lens with an Arca-Swiss mounting plate / camera without mounting plate (picture 6 and 7) (*1) (*3)
- v3: lens with an Arca-Swiss mounting plate / no camera (picture 8 and 9) (*1) (*3)
- v4: lens with an Arca-Swiss mounting plate / camera without mounting plate (picture 10 and 11) (*2)
- v6: lens with an Arca-Swiss mounting plate / camera with an Arca-Swiss mounting plate (picture 12 and 13) (*2)
(*1) No supports required.
(*2) Supports required.
(*3) also for Canon RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM with Arca-Swiss mounting plate
Standard PLA is fine. Arca-Swiss mounting plate 10mm thick.
