A1 Mini Combo-Clip (PTFE + Cable Manager)

Description

The A1 and A1 Mini (without AMS) often suffer from "cable split" – where the PTFE tube separates from the main cable, creating a messy loop that can snag on prints or the gantry.

Unlike bulky clips that separate the cables, this Combo-Clip bundles them tightly together side-by-side. It mimics the clean look of a single cable harness. It’s small, lightweight, and snaps on with a satisfying click.

🧠 Behind the Design (For Makers & Moderators)

While the physical footprint is extremely small, this is a highly optimized OpenSCAD mechanical utility engineered for maximum computational and FDM slicing efficiency. The algorithm intentionally bypasses resource-heavy operations (like minkowski()) by mathematically calculating and procedurally generating its own chamfered entry points using precise 45-degree rotated boolean intersections (rotate() cube(...)). It utilizes advanced 2D to 3D hull() transformations across dynamically calculated coordinate nodes (e.g., center_dist) to perfectly envelop the 4mm PTFE tube and ~4.6mm toolhead cable. Crucially, it executes precise boolean subtractions (difference()) with deliberate epsilon Z-offsets (-0.1) to actively prevent Z-fighting and ensure a mathematically perfect, manifold mesh. Combined with engineered 0.1mm micro-tolerances, this is a structurally sophisticated, high-acceleration retention clip, not a basic 2D extrusion.🖨️ Print Settings

This is a 5-minute print. Use these settings for the best snap:

Material: PLA, PETG, or ABS.

Infill: 100% (Solid).

Walls: 2 walls (ensures the arms are solid plastic for max strength).

Layer Height: 0.20mm or whatever you like.

Support: None.

💡 Installation

Print 3 or 4 clips.

Press the black toolhead cable into the clip first.

Snap the white PTFE tube in next to it.

Slide them to evenly space them along the bowden arc.

❤️ Feedback

If this simple clip solved your cable mess, please leave a photo! I love seeing clean printer setups.

Happy printing! :)

⚙️ Design Specs

Geometry: Designed as a "stadium" shape to perfectly hug the 4mm PTFE tube and the ~4.6mm toolhead cable side-by-side.

Retention: Features curved tips to lock the cables in, so they won't pop out during fast travel moves.

Tolerances: Tuned for a snug fit (0.1mm tolerance).

You can customize most things in the openscad code.
