Cat-Dog Collar Valentine Hearts

Description

This creates a funny Valentine’s collar attachments for two hearts and two 6g weights that counterbalance the hearts. While two colors are used, these are not multi-color prints, so they print fast.

I used Bone (tan) PLA for the collar parts and red PLA for the heart. Any filament colors or types should work. The parts clip onto a standard collar, about 2mm thick. If your collar has a different thickness, you can load the parts into your slicer and adjust. With each part on the Mounts and Weights plate, use the scale setting, set “Uniform scale” off, and change the X percent as needed. For example, a 3mm thick collar would require 150% X scale value.

The hearts are printed with 15% lightning fill (important), and I set the support threshold angle to 15% to avoid a lot of unnecessary support. I tried printing the hearts in different directions, and the default (upside down) worked considerably better than flat or upright. After the hearts are printed and the support removed, there may be some whiteish support left. I used a flame for less than 1 second to improve the top and get rid of the white.

The other parts should be printed with 100% fill to add weight. The two collar weights together are only 6 grams.

Once the parts are printed, attach the hearts to the thin square rod. Attached the two hearts to the upper part of the collar and the two weights to the lower part of the collar as a counterbalance.

The main photo shows an AI-generated cat, photoshopped with hearts, as we found it difficult to take a photo with our cat in the perfect position! All other photos are real.
