Description

Cyclopentylamine (C5H11N, CAS 1003-03-8) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. No legend required: the element symbol is engraved on each atom.

Let the group sketch what they see in Cyclopentylamine, namely one 5-membered ring; afterwards they compare the sketch with the 17 bonds on the model (all of them single). A five-minute warm-up: read the symbol on every sphere and write down the totals (5 C + 11 H + 1 N = 17 atoms). Team task: with the model in hand, each group marks the primary amino group (-NH2), then writes down what they found. Topics it supports in class: amines and basicity. For compare-and-contrast work, Methylcyclohexane (CAS 108-87-2) is structurally close to it in this collection.

MolGod.org offers this engraved model free to anyone teaching or learning chemistry. Teachers: pass the model round at the start of the lesson, before showing any diagram.

A ball-and-stick model of Cyclopentylamine with each element symbol recessed into its atom sphere, generated by MolGod.org from a PubChem-computed 3D conformer (not an experimental crystal structure); atomic coordinates and connectivity are unchanged. STL mesh: 176,554 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.

Names in other languages: Cyclopentylamin (de); cyklopentyloamina (pl); 环戊胺 (zh).
