Description

I need to power my 24v soldering iron in remote areas, and getting mains extension leads out kept becoming a pain, so I decided to make this. ..... I put the barrel jack for my soldering iron, but added the screw/banana terminals to make it more useful in the future.

Mine will do 0 - 30V ... But you can buy the more expensive version power unit that goes to 36v and higher watts.

The version uploaded has the barrel jack on the other side, as on my version, it is touching the back of the power unit and stopping my pushing the power unit fully in. You won't have this problem. .... You might have to glue the power unit in after wiring. It fits well, but mine wouldn't quite clip in; this might be because of the issue I mentioned with the barrel jack.

Simple to wire ... 2 power wires from the battery, 2 wires to your connectors. .... Getting the power unit into the case with the wires attached is quite tight ... you could take the terminals from the power unit, and solder the wires directly to the power unit board, which would get around this problem.

Power unit from Aliexpress £8 ... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005044026039.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.41.11371802O2r4hj

Female barrel Jack connector.

wire screw terminals.

THIS WILL KILL YOUR BATTERY IF YOU DRAIN YOUR BATTERY TOO LOW. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR BATTERY LEVEL WHEN USING, AND DON'T LEAVE IT CONNECTED WHEN NOT IN USE.
