First Layer Test – Precision Grid
Improve your 3D printer's first-layer accuracy with the First Layer Test – Precision Grid!
This practical calibration model uses a precision grid pattern with small squares and connecting lines to help you evaluate first-layer consistency, extrusion quality, and bed adhesion.
The grid layout makes it easy to identify differences between individual areas of your build plate and detect potential printing problems before starting larger projects.
Features

- First Layer Speed: 20–30 mm/s
- Supports: Disabled
- Raft: Disabled
- Ironing: Disabled
How to Read the Results
Perfect First Layer: Smooth, consistent grid squares with well-connected extrusion lines.
Gaps Between Lines: May indicate insufficient first-layer squish or under-extrusion.
Rough or Raised Surfaces: May indicate excessive first-layer squish or over-extrusion.
Broken or Missing Grid Lines: May indicate poor adhesion, inconsistent extrusion, or incorrect first-layer settings.
Uneven Results Across the Grid: May indicate bed leveling inconsistencies, bed mesh compensation issues, or local adhesion problems.
Why Use This Test?
A consistent first layer is essential for reliable 3D printing.
The First Layer Test – Precision Grid provides a simple way to inspect extrusion consistency across multiple small areas, helping you identify potential problems before wasting time and filament on larger prints.
