I wanted to create something wonderful, something a little magical. And that is how my Glowing Winter Village came to life!
Snow-covered cottages, tiny fir trees and a winding road climb the hillside, creating a little winter world. With the lights on, the village fills with a warm glow, like a peaceful Christmas evening tucked away in the mountains.
Now, honesty about printing: if you are not a fan of supports, this model might test your patience! But do not be afraid of them. Supports gave me the freedom to create the snowy rooftops and details that make this village so special. There is some cleanup involved, but seeing it light up makes the effort worthwhile.
I hope this little village brings a bit of Christmas magic into your home, just as creating it did for me.
How it works
- Hollow inside with even 2 mm walls, so the whole hill glows softly with no bright LED spot.
- Open, completely flat base: simply place it over an LED tealight or an LED string.
- Small cable slot at the back, so the LED wire passes under the wall and the village stands flat.
Tips
- White or natural PLA gives the best glow; a warm white LED gives the coziest look.
- Tree supports everywhere, with 0.25 mm top and lower gaps and 0.6 mm side gap, so they come off more easily.
- Remove the supports while the print is still a little warm.
