Enclosure Cooling Upgrade for Kobra 3 Printhead
This upgrade is designed specifically for the Kobra 3 to improve filament reliability when printing inside a heated enclosure by preventing heat creep and filament melting in the heatbreak. The upgrade mounts directly to the existing printhead and directs outside air through the heat sink inside the hot end.
The design requires the print head to be modified! This upgrade is only meant for Kobra 3 owners who print in heated enclosures above 60c.
You'll need a few things to modify the print head.
- 1x 2.5 mm drill
- 1x 3.0 mm drill
- 1x M3 Tap
- a small flat file
- super glue or good double sided tape (use 3M..)
- 9 x M3x20 screws
- flexible 25 mm ID hose
You can just glue the left and right ducts to the head and skip the screws, but I preferer to have it removable.
If you don't have a way to mount the hoses in your enclosure here is a model that can be clamped to the right side of the x-axis.

The front part requires some double sided tape or glue because I didn't want holes in case I ever decide to undo the mod.
I've included a template for the cutout on the left side below the filament cutter.

I recommend closing the cutouts in the back plate and the part cooling fan with aluminium tape. Leaving them open is going to direct cold outside air onto your part, into your enclosure and push whatever fumes there areoutside.
