Description

Headphone Stand

A modern, minimalist stand that won’t overwhelm its surroundings with its size or design, allowing your headphones to shine as they deserve.

Great combination of 3D printed parts with aluminium tubes gives it a premium and lightweight look, while the ability to cut the tubes to the desired length allows you to use it for both small and large headphones. You are not limited by the size of your 3D printer bed.

Am I the only one in the world who still uses wired headphones? Looking at available designs it might seems so, but I don’t think that’s the case. By using simple accessory like added cable clips, you may hang your headphones on this stand, coil up the cable and stop worrying about it getting tangled all over your desk.

If you’re tired of browsing trough the fiftieth version of “Onami” stand or you don’t want Batman or other Pokemon head standing on your desk give this one a try! :)

How to build this model:

Print the parts of the model. Remove the clips if your plan is to use this stand for wireless headphones. If your headphones are wired you may choose shorter cable clips from plate 1 or longer from plate 2.

Get 12mm aluminium tubes. Cheap and widely available online on eBay, Amazon, Aliexpress and in local DIY shops as well. You may also try 12mm diameter round wooden sticks. It will definitely looks interesting too!

Cut it to desired length. To get stand as you see on the pictures I used 23cm tubes in length. For wireless headphones you can use few centimeters less, for fully extended big wired headphones add few centimeters more.

Tolerances. I wouldn’t even start this topic if not the situation from 2 days ago. This stand is prepared for 12mm diameter aluminium tubes. Period. Tolerances let you just slide tubes into a holes and everything fits as it should. 12.00mm is 12.00mm, end of story. But is it? I had last 25cm of 12mm diameter tube so went to my local DIY shop to get more. I got home, cut it to size and the tube just dropped into the hole in the stand! Yeah, my freshly bought 12mm diameter aluminium tube was in fact 11.79mm in size. That’s more than typical 0.2mm tolerances we’re using in 3D prints! Unbelievable…

First slide both tubes to bottom part of the stand. Holes have tighter tolerances. If the tube is 12.00mm it should fit without a glue. If tubes are loose add some glue. After that add a top part of the stand. Glue it if it’s loose.

Cable clips. There are two versions – long and short. Both of them are in two tolerances. The one described as “11.84” are for tubes around 12.00mm, the one described as 11.40mm if connection is too lose to stay in place.

You may slide them up and down on the tube to position that fits you best.

If you like the model and you want to give it thumbs up, please also consider downloading it. It cost you just one additional click and it’s very important to me. Also check my other models, maybe you will find something interesting. Boosts are always welcome :) Thank you!

Happy printing! :)
