Kobra 3 Rear Plate Adapter for Bambu Lab A1 Silicone Nozzle Wiping Pads

Description

Rear guide for the Kobra 3 deck with Bambu Labs style pads, best to print in PETG or better. But I have used PLA for hundreds of hours without issue printing both PLA and PETG. If you need higher temperatures you should probably print this in something more heat resistant like ABS.

There are now three versions of this adapter. One that uses one pad only, 1.5 pads, and one that uses 2 pads. The only real difference is the nozzle won't be wiping 100% of the time with the 1 pad version. There is a gap to allow the nozzle to travel freely on the one and 1.5 pad versions, this can sometimes be beneficial as it can knock stubborn plastic off. The 2 pad version is just big enough to accommodate the two pads with the excess rubber sliced off the ends, or by cutting the last row off the end of one of the pads.

The rubber pads I used can be found on amazon: https://a.co/d/8XeCqyO

To mount it follow these steps:

- heating up the plate might be necessary to remove and/or reinsert your screw back in place, just depends on how your plate is sitting. But I would recommend powering down while uninstalling and reinstalling the circuit board.

- install your pad(s) into your new adapter

- unscrew the rear right screw of the deck

- remove the aluminum spacer from under the deck

- remove the 3 screws for the nozzle wiper assembly on the back left

- remove the 2 screws for thick wire from the adapter

- remove the 2 screws for the circuit board

- reinstall the circuit board and thick wire onto your newly printed adapter (see photos)

- insert the metal spacer into the guide (see photos)

- insert the adapter guide with the metal spacer installed

- position the guide under the deck matching the holes

- insert and tighten all screws, I started with the 3 screws in the back left by the nozzle wiper.

UPDATE Mar 4, 2025: Manual supports have been painted on. Updated with notch to ensure there is no contact with the motor. And lowered pad depth by 1mm.

UPDATE MAR 20th 2025: Firmware Update 2.3.8 changed the nozzle resting position and swipe pattern. Updated models to accommodate this change and added a 2 pad version as well. All the new versions have the pad positioned all the way to the left.
