Description

A moon-shaped wall lamp, 25 cm in diameter. The surface was generated from real elevation data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LOLA). It is based on the “CGI Moon Kit” from the NASA Scientific Visualization Studio, built as a parametric Blender model. Craters, mountain ranges and maria are therefore exactly where they are on the real Moon.

An LED strip is hidden in the outer ring and shines flat across the relief toward the center. Every crater casts its own shadow, and the whole Moon stays visible, with no cover in the middle. The slightly domed surface carries the light all the way to the center.

Required:

  • LED strip, 10 mm wide

Assembly:

  • The lamp body and the black bezel ring fit together without glue: place the ring on and twist it 15° until the bayonet mount clicks into place.
  • The back of the lamp has a slot that hangs on a single screw.
  • The cable runs behind the bezel through an 11 mm hole to the back. At the bottom, only a narrow slot remains for the cable to exit.
