Description

A small container with plenty of breathing room.

Keep your silica gel neatly contained with these slim, refillable capsules. Just 15 mm tall, they fit into storage boxes, camera cases and other small spaces.

I originally designed them for kitchen storage, then expanded the range for filament boxes, photography equipment, tools and everyday storage.

WHY THIS DESIGN?

• Extensive ventilation: openings across the lid and around the sides expose the silica gel to the surrounding air.

• Slim profile: all five sizes are only 15 mm tall.

• Snap-fit closure: a continuous retaining ring and matching groove hold the lid in place. No screws or threaded closure.

• Lightweight construction: designed to use little plastic while remaining practical for everyday handling.

• Support-free printing: print the two parts, fill the base and press the lid into place.

• Refillable: replace the silica gel whenever needed.

CHOOSE YOUR SIZE

External diameter → approximate silica gel capacity:

• 35 mm → 5 g

• 50 mm → 10 g

• 65 mm → 17 g

• 80 mm → 26 g

• 165 mm → 109 g

Capacity varies with granule size and how tightly the container is filled. Leave enough space for the lid to close freely.

SMALL AND IRREGULAR GRANULES

Ventilation openings are a maximum of 1 mm wide, helping retain small and irregular silica gel granules. Remove dust and fragments smaller than the openings, and check for leakage before use.

PRINTING

• Material used: PLA+

• Wall loops: 4

• Supports: none

• Files included: separate base and lid STL files, plus 3MF files for each size.

Print the base and lid in their supplied orientation. Before filling, check that the openings are clear and the lid snaps securely into place. Fit may vary with printer calibration and material.

HOW TO USE

  1. Fill the base with silica gel, keeping the closing area clear.
  2. Press the lid evenly into place.
  3. Check that no granules escape.
  4. Place the capsule inside your storage container and close it.

Best used inside a closed storage container. The capsule holds the desiccant; it does not create an airtight seal.

For kitchen use, keep it separate from food and select materials and silica gel suitable for the intended application. Remove the silica gel before regeneration and follow its manufacturer's instructions; do not heat the PLA+ capsule.
