Description

Prevents grass from growing around the sprinkler head. Designed for the most common 2.25” (57 mm) residential sprinkler heads, common with Orbit, Rainbird, and others. There are two versions: round and one for a side sprinkler. Each includes four drip paths so water doesn’t collect on the sprinkler head.

While there are many commercial sprinkler donuts you can buy, none work all that well. Most have a donut hole so large that grass and weeds can easily grow in the gap. I also found the large 7” to 9” (178-228 mm) outside diameter to be way too large and made these 4.25” (108 mm). Our design snaps onto the sprinkler head and has prongs that dig into the soil to prevent it from getting loose or being sucked up by a lawn mower.

Since these are in direct sunlight, PLA will not last long due to low heat/UV resistance. PETG or ASA are likely the best. I used Black ABS (Gizmodorks Low-odor ABS). I’ve had no problems with these in direct sun on +100˚F days.

For color, I chose Black, but Gray, Dark Brown, or Dark Green work well unless you want them to stand out. With some lighter color filaments, the color may yellow over time under UV sunlight.
