Description

Print-in-Place Lift-Off Hinge (Large) (PETG Optimized)

Need a functional, heavy-duty hinge that requires zero assembly and pops apart when you need it? ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

This Print-in-Place Lift-Off Hinge combines the convenience of a fully assembled, single-piece 3D print with the high utility of a quick-release mechanism. Perfect for enclosures, cabinet doors, or modular panels, this design allows you to lift your doors straight off their frames without unscrewing a single fastener.

Engineered specifically with the material properties of PETG in mind, the internal clearances are fine-tuned to prevent the fused joints that often plague standard PLA print-in-place models. PETG's natural flexibility gives the interlocking barrel excellent fatigue resistance, while its slick surface provides an incredibly smooth, low-friction rotational swing once freed.

This model has been fully dialled in, tested, and sliced for the Anycubic Kobra S1 series printers. By leveraging the machine's reliable extrusion and precise cooling control, you can say goodbye to messy stringing and hello to tight, wobble-free tolerances right off the build plate.

Why Print This File?

  • Zero Assembly: Prints as a single, interlocking pieceโ€”no pins, screws, or glue required.
  • Lift-Off Functionality: Easily remove panels or doors for quick maintenance or cleaning.
  • PETG Optimized: Tolerances are specifically spaced to combat PETG's natural stickiness and tendency to blob.
  • High Durability: Built with thick structural walls to handle mechanical loads and shearing forces.

Recommended Print Settings (Anycubic S1 / Kobra Series):

  • Material: PETG (highly recommended for chemical, UV, and heat resistance)
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm (provides the ideal balance between structural strength and clearance accuracy)
  • Infill: 35% to 50% Gyroid or Cubic (for robust internal support against shearing forces)
  • Wall Loops: Minimum 3โ€“4 walls (forces are concentrated on the outer perimeters; more walls equal a stronger hinge)
  • Cooling Fan: 20% to 40% (keep it low for PETG layer adhesion, but high enough to bridge the internal overhangs cleanly)
  • Post-Print Tip: Give the hinge a firm twist right after it cools to break any microscopic PETG contact points. A drop of light machine oil makes it glide like butter.
