Benchy Pequod - With guttiau in the hull and Nuragic spirits at the helm
This isn’t just a model. It’s a votive boat that bathed in wood filament and emerged with golden antlers and ancient swagger. It’s the Benchy that stopped benchmarking and started offering itself to the gods. And yes, it’s my tribute to Sardinia — the land that raised me on carasau and bronze.
The structure stays true to the original Benchy, but every surface is carved like it was touched by a Nuragic artisan with a flair for drama. At the bow stands a totemic deer: warm wood, nearly golden antlers, glossy black eyes, and a proud muzzle. On the deck, a ritual female figure with natural skin tones and a gray-beige dress, posed like she’s summoning the wind or blessing the print bed.
The sacred tree rises from the center, same tone as the hull, with symmetrical branches and a solar disc topped by a stylized bird. No green patina, no copper shimmer — just wood and bronze, like the ancestors intended. The votive animals are sculpted directly into the deck, no pedestals, no excuses.

- Layer height: 0.16 mm to capture every carved detail
- Nozzle: 0.4 mm
- Material: wood-effect PLA or matte white PLA
- Supports: yes, they’re needed. Nuraghes were built without supports, but let’s not get cocky — antlers and sacred trees need a little help
- Estimated time: ~3 hours, or the length of a good ritual with espresso
🎨 Painting Techniques
- Hull and cabin: warm brown acrylic, drybrushed with light ochre to simulate aged wood
- Engravings: antique gold, applied with a fine brush and the steady hand of a pigment priest
- Deer: wood base, golden antlers, glossy black eyes
- Female figure: natural skin tone, gray-beige dress, soft shading for depth
- Sacred tree: same tone as the hull, solar disc and bird in matte bronze
- Votive animals: solid brown, carved into the deck, no gradients
- Finish: matte clear varnish for protection and that “ancient artifact” vibe
