Electronic Configuration Kit — Bohr Model Learning Tool
This 3D-printed Electron Configuration Kit is a hands-on classroom tool designed to help students build and understand electron arrangements for the first 20 elements.
Students place removable electron pieces onto the circular energy levels to model how electrons are arranged around the nucleus using the simplified Bohr model commonly taught at GCSE level.
It is ideal for ages 14–16, GCSE Chemistry, KS4 Science, transition activities, revision lessons, intervention groups, and visual learners who benefit from physically building atomic structures.
The kit helps students practise:
- counting protons and electrons using the atomic number
- filling electron shells in the correct order
- writing electronic configurations such as 2,4 or 2,8,8,2
- linking electron arrangement to group number and period number
- understanding why atoms form ions during bonding
The circular design makes the shell structure clear, while the removable electron markers make it quick to reset and reuse across different elements.
