Title: Ornate Victorian Rose Decora Switch Plate Cover (Fits Over Your Existing Plate)
Description:
Give a plain light switch a vintage, antique-brass look without replacing anything. This ornate rose-and-scroll frame slips right over a standard single Decora (rocker) wall plate and screws on with longer screws. Your original certified plate stays in place underneath.
Why a cover and not a replacement plate?
Your original plastic plate stays on the wall, so the electrical box stays properly enclosed by a certified plate. This print is purely decorative, and you don't have to worry about whether your filament is rated for electrical use.
Fits:
- Standard single-gang Decora/rocker wall plates, about 70 × 114.3 mm and up to 7 mm deep (tested on a Leviton plate)
- Standard Decora screw spacing (96.8 mm / 3-13/16")
- The pocket has 0.5 mm of clearance per side, and the edge is angled slightly so the first layers of the print don't make it too tight
Size: 97 × 125 × 15 mm
Hardware:
- 2 × #6-32 flat or oval head screws, 5/8" long (your original screws will be too short)
- The countersunk seats let the screw heads sit flush in the decoration. Brass or antique bronze screws finish the look nicely.
Print settings:
- Material: PLA or PETG. Silk gold PLA looks amazing, and PETG holds up a little better under constant screw pressure.
- Orientation: back face down, as oriented in the file
- Supports: inside the back pocket only ("touching build plate only" works). The decorative front needs no supports.
- Walls: 3–4 for strength around the screw holes
- Layer height: 0.12–0.16 mm brings out the rose detail
Installing:
- Remove your plate screws (the plate stays on the wall).
- Set the cover over the plate.
- Screw it on with the longer screws. Tighten until snug. Don't overtighten into plastic.
