Modular Roof Support for a Tomato Greenhouse

I designed this roof support for a rectangular tomato greenhouse that has a cabinet-like shape.

Without this construction, the foil sags downward, causing rainwater to collect on the roof and remain there. This roof support braces the foil from the inside and creates a roof shape that allows water to drain away more easily.

The model is modular.

The center piece is already included in the uploaded model, so you can decide whether you want to build the support in a narrow or wide version.

The additional photos show nicely how the wide version rests on the supports or frame bars of the greenhouse.

The sturdy model also includes holes for attaching strings. These can be used to guide tomato plants or other climbing plants upward more easily.

I printed the model in PETG.

To achieve the smooth rounded finish shown in my photos, remove the support remnants with a file first, then carefully smooth the rounded surfaces with sandpaper.

The plug-in connections should be sanded slightly so that the parts fit together well and can be assembled without glue.

If too much material is removed, you may need to glue the parts together.

This construction improves the greenhouse in several ways:

• prevents water from pooling on the foil
• creates a more stable roof shape
• provides attachment points for plant support strings
• can be assembled without glue with proper finishing

Modulare Dachstütze für ein Tomatengewächshaus

Ich habe diese Dachstütze für ein rechteckiges Tomatengewächshaus gebaut, das optisch ein bisschen wie ein Schrank aussieht.

Ohne diese Konstruktion wird die Folie nach unten gedrückt. Dadurch sammelt sich Regenwasser auf dem Dach und bleibt dort stehen. Die Dachstütze hält die Folie von innen in Form, sodass das Wasser besser ablaufen kann.

Das Modell ist modular aufgebaut. Das Mittelstück ist bereits im hochgeladenen Modell enthalten, sodass du selbst entscheiden kannst, ob du die Konstruktion schmal oder breit verwenden möchtest.

Auf den Fotos sieht man gut, wie die breite Variante auf den Halterungen bzw. Streben des Gewächshauses aufliegt.

Zusätzlich sind im Modell Bohrungen für Schnüre vorgesehen. Daran kannst du Schnüre befestigen, damit Tomatenpflanzen oder andere rankende Pflanzen besser nach oben wachsen können.

Gedruckt habe ich das Modell aus PETG.

Damit die gerundeten Teile so schön glatt werden wie auf meinen Fotos, solltest du zuerst die Supportreste mit einer Feile entfernen und die Rundungen anschließend mit Schmirgelpapier sauber nachbearbeiten.

Die Steckverbindungen solltest du leicht anschleifen, damit die Teile gut zusammenpassen und sich ohne Kleber montieren lassen.

Wenn dabei zu viel Material abgetragen wird, musst du die Teile eventuell doch verkleben.

Diese Konstruktion verbessert das Gewächshaus in mehreren Punkten:

• verhindert, dass sich Wasser auf der Folie sammelt
• sorgt für eine stabilere Dachform
• bietet Befestigungsmöglichkeiten für Pflanzenschnüre
• kann bei passender Nachbearbeitung ohne Kleber montiert werden
