This version is based on my original design but introduces an additional feature: an integrated hinged lid that transforms the open storage compartment into a more discreet and enclosed storage space.

The result is a practical dashboard upgrade that combines additional storage capacity with a clean, OEM-style appearance.

TWO VERSIONS – ONE PRACTICAL SOLUTION

There are two versions of this storage tray, allowing you to choose the configuration that best suits your needs.

1. Initial Version – With Ventilation

An open storage compartment featuring integrated ventilation openings.

2. Alternative Version – With Hinged Lid (This Model)

An enclosed storage compartment featuring a functional hinged lid for a cleaner appearance and more discreet storage.

REQUIRED PRINTING MATERIAL

IMPORTANT: Print this model using ABS or ASA .

Since this accessory is installed inside a vehicle, behind the infotainment screen, it can be exposed to elevated temperatures, especially when the car is parked in direct sunlight.

Recommended printing settings:

• Material: ABS or ASA
• Nozzle: 0.4 mm
• Layer height: 0.20 mm
• Wall count: 3–4 perimeters
• Infill: 15–25%
• Printer: Enclosed FDM 3D printer suitable for ABS/ASA

PLA and standard PETG are not recommended for the main printed components due to their limited heat resistance in automotive environments.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Tray installation

Slide the tray in from the right side to the left, positioning it behind the infotainment screen until it is properly seated.

2. Lid hinge installation – 1.75 mm filament required

To make the lid fully functional, you need a separate piece of 1.75 mm 3D printer filament, which acts as the hinge pin.

• Align the hinge components of the lid and the tray.
• Insert a piece of 1.75 mm filament through the dedicated hinge hole.
• Push the filament through the entire hinge mechanism until it is fully inserted.
• Check that the lid opens and closes smoothly.
• Once everything is correctly positioned, cut off the excess filament flush with the hinge.

Important: The 1.75 mm filament is required to assemble the functional hinged lid. It is not included in the printed parts and must be supplied separately.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• Verify compatibility with your specific dashboard and infotainment configuration before printing.
• Check all clearances before final installation.
• Make sure the lid operates freely after installation.
