Every Halloween, the village gathers to discuss the same small mystery: did Oinkaboo dress up as a pumpkin… or did he get stuck in one?
The witches insist it is a costume. They admire the curling stem, the dark leafy ears, and the little Gothic windows carved into his remarkably round outfit.
The crows remember things differently. Something about a hungry piglet, an unusually large pumpkin, and the confident words: “Of course I’ll fit.”
Nobody has been able to confirm either story.
With his pink snout poking through the grinning mask, Oinkaboo simply trots from doorstep to doorstep, accepting treats with great dignity. Whenever someone offers to help him out, he suddenly remembers somewhere else he needs to be.
Perhaps it is the perfect disguise.
Perhaps he is waiting for the pumpkin to loosen.
The village still whispers.
Oinkaboo continues to look intentional.
