The ACE Pro intake guide funnel will eventually wear down from filament rubbing on the sides, similar to what you see below.
This part is designed to hold a small length of PTFE tubing with PC4-M6 pneumatic connectors.
I also have a version for PC4-M10
Updates:
- 4 Jun 2025 - Based on feedback and additional testing, increased the outlet diameter slightly on the standard version. Added a slight chamfer on the M6 threads to make it easier to install.
Benefits:
- This protects the guide insert so it is less likely to need replacement in the future
- The PTFE tubing is easily replaced
- PTFE helps to guide the filament down in a more gradual path reducing errors
- Using a longer tube improves how the filament unspools and reduces problems with the spool raising and getting stuck when low.
- Easily remove and replace in the future without dismantling the cover.
I also have an OEM style funnel guide here.
Instructions
Very tight tolerances are needed to both allow the filament to pass through but also correctly align the filament for the intake motor. Filament calibration may be needed. Please let me know if you have issues.
The M6 threads are quite sharp and will easily slice through plastic if you're not careful. When aligned correctly the pneumatic connectors should screw in with nearly no force. If you have to apply force to twist it in you're likely not aligned correctly and are cutting through the plastic rather than using the printed threads.
This can be printed in PLA but I recommend PETG. Most PLAs are stiff and brittle and the tabs are more likely to break during install. Additionally, with a low softening temperature, PLA is more likely to soften and get loose as you use the dry function in the ACE.
