Description

The model files are original and printable (verified).

Model images: actual representations of the printed models.

Description of the model: You can bend bamboo to create flexible textures that blend time with form. Conventional 3D prints, on the other hand, are designed to retain the shape set by heat. Bamboo is solid; light often cannot pass through it, becoming blocked as if by a wall of flexible strips. Plastic, conversely, can be glossy and transparent, allowing light to pass through in a play of colors: it can tint the light from a bulb or block it in certain areas, revealing textures and colors hidden within the relief—such as concealing a layer of a different color or creating lithophanes that unveil a new pattern when illuminated. That is where I got the idea of ice: something hidden underneath. A frosted pattern, a ghostly trace.

How I made it: It is designed to be a handcrafted, personal piece, combining the potential for mass production with the human touch -the time spent by the person handling it. You take the printed, rigid sheet, warm it up with very hot water or a hairdryer, and fold it by hand while it is still warm, creating a vase with the organic look of fabric. Each piece is unique because it is handmade.

My story: I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Venice is home to an island famous for its glassmaking and artisans skilled in mosaics. I believe the place where I studied—the waves of the water and the reflections of glass taking shape through heat—inspired this idea, drawing from my own cultural background.

I wanted to play with theoretical contrasts; to me, it feels like a living idea: a shape that changes, a frosted trace of time, and a human touch that is unlike any other.

Supports: No, they aren't needed; the model is ready as-is.
