Description
Model of an F-5 aircraft equipped with two air-to-air missiles.
The F-5 features easy manoeuvrability thanks to its small wings, twin-engine propulsion and simple but effective design, which allows high acceleration and rapid changes of direction. These characteristics have kept the F-5 relevant to many militaries around the world over the decades and today it continues to serve as a valued platform for pilot training, combat simulation and air operations support.
An interesting fact about the F-5 is its role in the Hollywood film Top Gun, where it appeared as a fictional Soviet MiG-28. In reality, the MiG-28 does not exist; in fact, the F-5 was painted black and used as an "adversary" to fight American aircraft such as the F-14.
