Kobra S1 - PTFE tube protector
UPDATES:
- 20/10/2025 -> I revised the tolerance of the regular version (it now slides more smoothly in the PTFE tube). I slightly adjusted the size of both versions to optimize the filament entry curve based on my own testing.
- 22/05/2025 -> The PTFE tube is too tight in the black extruder connector, and many people can't remove it. That's why I've added a version that retains the original design, but you simply need to press it against the PTFE tube to install it.

This is my simple PTFE tube protector design for the Kobra S1. Its purpose is to prevent wear on the PTFE tube caused by friction with the front plastic cover of the print head. The design fits the structure of the print head, offering a simple and effective solution to extend the life of the tube and maintain optimal printer performance.
✅ Print-in-place:
- No supports needed – optimized for easy FDM printing.
🧱 Recommended material:
- To ensure durability and heat resistance inside the printer's chamber, it is recommended to print the support in ABS, ASA, PETG, or any other high-temperature resistant material. PLA is not recommended.
🛠️ Assembly:
- Remove the front cover of the print head and the blue tube clip.
- Press down on the black fitting that holds the PTFE tube while pulling the tube out (first time is really hard).
- Insert the tube into the protector with the taller side facing down for a perfect fit.
- Reassemble all parts in their original positions.

Este es mi sencillo diseño de protector del tubo PTFE para la Kobra S1. Su función es evitar el desgaste del tubo PTFE causado por el roce con el plástico delantero del cabezal de impresión. Su diseño se adapta a la estructura del cabezal de impresión ofreciendo una solución sencilla y eficaz para prolongar la vida útil del tubo y mantener un funcionamiento óptimo de la impresora.
✅ Impresión en el sitio:
- No necesita soportes, está optimizado para la impresión FDM de manera sencilla.
🧱 Material recomendado:
- Para garantizar su durabilidad y resistencia al calor dentro de la cámara de la impresora, se recomienda imprimir el soporte en ABS, ASA, PETG o cualquier otro material que soporte temperaturas elevadas. No se recomienda el uso de PLA.
🛠️ Montaje:
- Retira el protector delantero del cabezal y el clip azul de entrada del tubo.
- Haz presión en plástico negro que sujeta el tubo PTFE mientras tiras del tubo (la primera vez está realmente duro).
- Introduce el tubo en el protector con la parte más alta abajo para un encaje perfecto.
- Vuelve a colocar todo en su sitio.
