Bring the neon-lit streets of Daiyu to life with this illuminated 3D-printed display, designed to turn a Funko Pop or small collectible into the centrepiece of its own miniature sci-fi scene.
Inspired by the crowded underworld streets seen in Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), the diorama combines layered architecture, exposed pipes, weathered wall panels, glowing Aurebesh signage and an illuminated wanted poster to create a gritty off-world atmosphere.
It can be displayed on a bookshelf, desk or inside a display cabinet, either with a figure in place or as a standalone miniature environment.
Features
Miniature Daiyu Street Scene
The display recreates the dense, neon-soaked appearance of Daiyu with:
- Detailed sci-fi walls and doors
- Exposed pipes and conduits
- Raised floor grating
- Weathered industrial panels
- Illuminated Aurebesh shop signs
- A central platform for displaying a figure
The layered construction gives the scene depth and makes it feel like a small section of the city has been cut out and placed directly on your shelf.
Designed for Funko Pop Figures
The raised platform is sized for standard Funko Pop Vinyl figures, but the diorama can also be used with other small collectibles, miniatures or custom characters.
Changing the figure completely changes the story of the scene, whether it becomes a hidden Jedi sighting, an Imperial patrol or simply someone making a questionable late-night snack purchase on Daiyu.
Illuminated Wanted Poster
The centre screen uses a 3D-printed lithophane-style panel displaying Obi-Wan’s wanted hologram.
Thirteen LEDs illuminate the panel from behind, creating the appearance of a glowing public warning screen built into the street.
Programmable WLED Lighting
The lighting system uses 39 WS2812B addressable RGB LEDs, controlled by a D1 Mini ESP8266 running WLED.
WLED allows you to control:
- Individual lighting segments
- Colours
- Brightness
- Animation speed
- Pulsing and flickering effects
- Neon sign patterns
- Custom presets
The display can be controlled through the WLED mobile app or a web browser.
💡 LED Layout
The 39 LEDs are divided across the scene as follows:
- Left door panel: 1 LED
- Left door light: 1 LED
- Left round light: 1 LED
- Left upper sign: 3 LEDs
- Obi-Wan wanted poster: 13 LEDs
- Right door panel: 1 LED
- Beer sign: 8 LEDs
- Right door light: 2 LEDs
- Snacks sign: 9 LEDs
- Total: 39 LEDs
Each area can be configured as a separate segment in WLED, allowing the signs, door lights and wanted poster to use different colours, brightness levels and effects.
🔌 Wiring and Power
The display operates from a 5 V USB power source.
For reliable operation, the LED strip should receive power directly from the USB supply rather than drawing its full current through the D1 Mini.
The recommended arrangement is:
- USB 5 V connected directly to the LED strip
- USB ground connected directly to the LED strip
- The D1 Mini connected to the same 5 V and ground lines
- LED data connected from the D1 Mini to the input end of the strip
- All components sharing a common ground
This keeps the wiring compact while preventing the D1 Mini from carrying the full LED current.
The LED data line is connected to a single GPIO pin, with the individual areas configured as separate segments inside WLED.
A suitable 5 V, 2 A USB power supply is recommended.
Simpler Lighting Option
Builders who are not yet comfortable with soldering or programming can use a ready-made 5 V USB LED strip or compact lighting kit instead.
Suitable options are available from retailers such as Amazon and AliExpress, including strips with built-in colour changes and animated patterns.
These kits will not offer the same individual control or customisation as the WS2812B and WLED version, but they can still provide an effective neon glow with much simpler assembly.
🎨 Finishing Ideas
The model can be printed directly in colour or painted and weathered after assembly.
For a more realistic street appearance, consider adding:
- Dark washes around pipes and panel lines
- Metallic dry-brushing on raised edges
- Rust or grime beneath vents and signs
- Scuffing around the floor platform
- Gloss varnish over illuminated signs
- Matte varnish over the walls and architecture
The contrast between the worn environment and the bright neon lighting helps sell the gritty Daiyu atmosphere.

Display
Place your chosen figure on the central platform, switch on the lighting and turn an ordinary shelf into a tiny neon street hidden somewhere in the galaxy.
Perfect for Star Wars collectors, Funko Pop fans, miniature builders and anyone who feels their bookshelf could use significantly more questionable signage.
